Exploring the historical Jinja town in Uganda

Jinja town is located in the Jinja district southeastern part of Uganda, only 80kms away from Kampala. Jinja district is bordered by Mukono and Kayunga districts in the West, Mayuge, and Iganga in the East, and Kamuli in the North. The town is located on the shores of Lake Victoria near the source of the River Nile and this strategic location makes the town a tourism hub in Uganda because many tourists who are on their Uganda safaris tour Jinja in order to explore the longest River Nile and the third largest lake victoria.

Jinja town is the largest Metropolitan area in Jinja District and it’s considered the capital of Busoga Kingdom. You can then proceed to the Source of the Nile in Jinja where you can do a boat trip to the source of the Nile. Alternatively; you can drive to the source of the Nile in the morning from Kampala. This might take you about 3 hours. Explore the source of the Nile with a few activities then proceed to your desired rafting location to the far ends of Jinja. This might take you about one hour from the source of the Nile.
