Uganda Group Tours

There are four popular ways to explore Uganda: a tailor-made self-drive safari, an all-inclusive safari, an all-inclusive group safari, and an all-inclusive self-drive safari. The most popular of these is a tailor-made self-drive safari in Uganda. Here is what you need to know about safaris in Uganda

Tailor Made Self Drive Safaris

These are the most popular self drive safaris in Uganda. The traveler simply hires a car from the car rental agency and handle each and everything concerning their trip by themselves. They handle the itinerary planning, fuel planning, accommodation, meals and entrances. In cases where they cannot book some activities such as gorilla trekking and chimpanzee tracking, this is the only time they get out of their way to find help from the local tour operators.

The common challenge with this type of self drive safari is car break down. Unless you have hired a newer car with mileage less than 100,000km; it is very rare to have a car without any issue whatsoever. The quality of your trip largely depends on the car rental agency you book with and how much they are keen to details such as the engine state, brakes, battery, radiator, alternator, lights among several other things that tend to wear out every now and then.

All Inclusive Tailor Made Safaris

The all inclusive tailor made safaris are safaris where you work on your desired itinerary with the tour operator. Once you have agreed on the itinerary, you simply pay an agreed amount and let the tour operator handle everything including but not limited to accommodation, meals, transport, activities among several other things.

These are some of the most popular safaris in Uganda. They are suitable for both couples and groups. However their cost is often higher for people who intend to travel as individuals and on a tight budget.

Scheduled All Inclusive Uganda Safaris

The scheduled all inclusive Uganda safari are more like the all inclusive tailor made safaris. The only difference is that in these kind of safaris, you do not have any say on the itinerary. It is the tour operator that is in charge of the itinerary, you simply book and join other people who find the shared itinerary not only suitable budget wise but not in the things the wish to see and do.

Scheduled All Inclusive Self Drive Safaris

These are self drive safaris that do not require you to plan. You simply pay and join an already existing group of people intending to travel during the same period using the same itinerary. In this case, you decide on whether you wish to share accommodation or not. You should be ready to share a room with a stranger. The car will also be shared by strangers. It is one of those trips where you can make new friends because you do not travel with people that you know.

In the scheduled self drive safaris, the operator books your accommodation, plans for your meals and also book for you activities as well as park entrances. The only difference between a self drive all inclusive safari and a scheduled safari is on this trip you get a chance to get behind the wheels. For instance, if it is a 12 days Uganda self drive group safari, with four people, each of your is entitled to driving for 3 days. But you could have someone amongst yourself who could choose to be your driver for the rest of the trip

You also have the opportunity to switch to another group which is driving another car if you are comfortable with that. The car rental agency offer has a lead car that also doubles as your tour guide. They also usually have radio calls in the car for easy communication. They far better fan trips than all the other trips.
