Visit Rwanda Seals Deal With Aston Villa

The Premier League mid-table giant Aston Villa has sealed a £ 20 million deal with Rwanda for the front part of their jersey sponsorship. Formerly, Visit Rwanda has been featuring on Arsenal sleaves but after a controversial campaign by the  Democratic Republic of Congo accusing Rwanda of violating human rights and calling its sports sponsorships sports-washing its violence, their sponsorship partnership with Bayern Munich was cancelled while Arsenal chose not to renew.

In the same period, the Premier League has moved away from allowing betting companies to sponsor sports teams, and for that reason, Aston Villa had to part ways with its former sports betting sponsor. Rwanda seized the opportunity by entering into a 20 million pound one-year deal with Aston Villa. However, this has not come easy for Aston Villa. Its partnership with Rwanda has come under scrutiny in the name of violation of human rights. Nonetheless, Aston Villa has said this is one of the best sports deals it has ever had in its history.
