Electric Visa Application Resumes Effective This Week

On the 8th of October, the immigration office in Uganda issued a press release informing the public that the online Visa application was temporarily suspended due to an upgrade of the system that was taking place. During this time, visitors to Uganda were allowed to acquire Visas upon arrival though the $50 Visa fee remained a requirement.

A few days ago, the immigration office in Uganda again issued another press release to inform the public that the system is now online and running. https://visas.immigration.go.ug/. You can now visit the website to apply for your Visa to Uganda. The Visa application fee remains $50  regardless of the upgrade.

What You Need To Apply For a Ugandan Tourist Visa

  • Recent passport size photo
  • Yellow Fever Vacinnation Certificate
  • Passport Valid For Atleast 6 months
  • Your Residence details
  • Email address
  • Application Fee of $50

Main Question To Answer When Applying For A Ugandan Tourist Visa

  • The first question will be whether you have ever been denied a Visa before
  • The Second question will be whether you have ever been deported before
  • The third question will be whether you have ever been convicted in any country before
  • They will also ask whether you have ever suffered a mental illness before
  • Then they will ask about your criminal record
  • They will also need to know whether you have any kids endorsed to travel with you to Uganda

How Long Does The Visa Application Process In Uganda Take?

The Visa application process is meant to take 3 to 5 working days. Unfortunately sometimes it can stretch to up to two weeks. If you are applying for a multiple entry East African Visa through Uganda, it is recommended to apply at least a month in advance. Sometimes it process for the East African Visa can take a full month. However with the need system, the procedure is expected to be smoother but not yet guaranteed.

Can I Get My Visa Upon Arrival?

Uganda nolonger offers Visas upon arrival. It is recommended to process your Visa electronic at least one week before your boarding date. It is also important to note that Visas applied for on Fridays or Saturdays might take five days or more to be approved unlike Visas applied for on Mondays.

Do I need to have a Visa to book a car or Gorilla trekking permits?

You do not need to have a Visa to book gorilla trekking permits or rent a car in Uganda. All you need is to make your reservation by making a down payment.
