Where to Shop In Entebbe

Entebbe is the main international gateway into Uganda. It is the first place you go to once you land in Uganda. Among the first questions that would come up whenever the need arises is; where can I buy such and such a thing? Entebbe is not a very big town; therefore you can easily get around by yourself in case you need to buy something.

Entebbe Shopping Spots

There are mainly four shopping places we recommend in Entebbe. Three of these are less than 2km from each other. Here are the first go-to places for shopping in Entebbe.

Victoria Mall:

This is one of the more modern shopping establishments in Entebbe. It houses various retail shops, supermarkets, banks, restaurants, a cinema, and more. This is the place where you can find almost everything you need in Entebbe.

You can buy local sim cards here. It is also possible to exchange money at Victoria Mall. The mall also offers free spacious parking which is the reason why we recommend it above other places in Entebbe. The downside of this place is the fact that it does not work for 24 hours. Therefore you arrive in the middle of the night, there is nothing you can get from Victoria Mall.

Airgate Supermarket

Are you looking for a place where you can buy some snacks and a few drinks past midnight? Airgate supermarket is the most recommended spot in Entebbe. This supermarket works 24/7 and it has most of the basic things that you mid need.

The only downside of this supermarket is the fact that it is not as big as Carrefour at Victoria Mall. You will not have the luxury of diversity like it is with Victoria Mall. But besides that, Airgate supermarket is the go-to place in case you need anything in the middle of the night in Entebbe.

Bayita Market

Many people consider Victoria Mall when shopping for their camping safaris in Uganda. But we recommend a blend of Victoria Mall and Bayita local market. At Victoria Mall, you can get canned food for your camping trip while at Bayita Market, you call to get all fresh food for your camping.

It is important to note that in Uganda, people are fond of fresh food. They rarely buy food from the supermarkets. You can buy all the fruits and food fresh at Bayita Market.

Imperial Mall Entebbe

Imperial Mall is relatively a less busy mall compared to Victoria Mall. You can make use of the Forex bureaus at this mall. There also have a wider option of restaurants. The downside of this place is the shopping experience. You will not get most of the basic things here but this is compensated by its proximity to Victoria Mall.

The mall is within walking distance from Victoria Mall. It is therefore wise

Local Craft Markets:

Entebbe has a number of local markets where you can buy handmade crafts, textiles, wooden sculptures, and jewelry. These are great places to find unique souvenirs and gifts. There are crafts shops opposite Victoria Mall and also near the Entebbe tourism information center.

When shopping in Entebbe, especially in markets or with street vendors, it’s advisable to haggle as it’s a common practice in Uganda. However, always ensure you’re respectful in your approach. Remember to keep your belongings secure and be aware of your surroundings, as in any other busy public place around the world.
