If you booked any service for your summer holiday in Uganda, you might be wondering what the current situation might be in Uganda due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Flashed with unclear information regarding the closure or opening of Entebbe international airport and other essential sectors responsible for your trip, we would like to take the initiative to share what the current situation in Uganda is like.

Entebbe International Airport

Entebbe international airport is the main gateway into Uganda for any international traveler.  Therefore if you are to come to Uganda, you might have to come in through Entebbe international airport.

The airport was closed in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The good news is, the airport is open for chartered flights. The bad news is; we are still uncertain of the dates the government might be considering to resume international commercial flights.

Gorilla Trekking in Uganda amidst Covid-19 Pandemic

Many tourists are still uncertain of what is next regarding their gorilla trekking trip in Uganda. Here are a few props regarding the current gorilla trekking situation in Uganda.

Bwindi impenetrable forest national park and Mgahinga gorilla national park are still closed till further notice. However, the Uganda wildlife Authority has made an offer where you can postpone your trip to up to 2022 at no extra cost.

Please note; Mountain gorillas have a very close DNA to that of human beings, their future is totally uncertain if they catch Covid-19, for this reason, Mgahinga gorilla national park and Bwindi impenetrable forest national park are still out of bounds for tourist.

Chimpanzee Tracking in Uganda amidst Covid-19 Pandemic

Just like gorilla trekking, Chimpanzee tracking in Uganda has been put on hold. All Chimpanzee reserves and forests in Uganda that are managed by Uganda wildlife authority has been temporarily closed till further notice.

However, the good news is; you can postpone your chimpanzee tracking reservation up to 2022 at no extra cost.

Transport Means

  • The car is only allowed to carry a maximum of four people including the driver
  • You are only allowed to drive from 6:00 am in the morning up to 7:00 pm in the evening
  • You should have a face mask and a sanitizer

Current Covid-19 Situation in Uganda

We have not registered any death due to Covid-19 in our country. And all Covid-19 patients have been either transit individuals or people who have been in touch with transit individuals. Therefore we have not had any Covid-19 outbreak in Uganda communities so far; we are simply taking precautions at the borders.
